Bachelor-film: Wing

Posted by Foxcato - February 1st, 2012

I got my bachelor in character animation a few days ago, which is super awesome!

As part of my final exam I was to make a short animated film together with 3 other students. I was director and animator on the film which consists of 3d-animated characters projected onto photos of hand crafted sets. I'm very proud of this movie and I'll have you know that if you'd be interested in watching it you can do so if you follow THIS LINK.
I hope you'll enjoy.

This was epic. Those crow like things were creepy but awesome.

Thanks buddy:-)

Nice visuals. But why didn't you handcraft everything, including characters and their animation, if the sets were handcrafted already?

Thanks. We did consider doing that, but since we had a computer graphic artist on our team we had to make use of her, or she would have stood without a job for most of the production. Therefore the 3d-modelled characters.

pretty awesome film man ~ love the sets

Thanks man. We had a ton of fun building those sets, and we'd very much like to do it again for future projects...

Nice one FoXcatO! I really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing (and making) such a beautiful short film. =]

Thanks Mister Kraig. I'm glad you liked our film.
Also I'd like to have you know that it's good to see you doing a bit of flash again.

Cool stuff, nice work! :)

Thanks buddy!
I really enjoyed your William and Sly games by the way. Will there be a 3rd?

Amazing work man, really well done, the crows had some great movement.

Btw were the backgrounds a miniature set? if not then kudos on the materials used it looked real

Thanks Mister Chamber. We really put a lot of focus making the crows as ghostly in their movement as possible.

Glad you liked the sets. We used real twigs and branches from cypress trees and other trees of that sort, as we wanted the sets to be as organic as possible and nothing is more organic than trees.

well congrats more people should do that, miniatures mixed with CG , great idea

Thanks and I think you're right. It's a nice mix.

Wow I loved it dude! I And the quote at the end was a really nice touch. II hope you're doing great mang.

Thanks a bunch, buddy. I thought you'd left NG...

Your style really comes through in this, which can be a tough in transition from 2d sometimes. Great work!

Thanks for the kind words!

Why not on Newgrounds?

Well I wanted to upload it to NG, but the copyrights are a bit odd. Even though it was made by my team-mates and I the school basically owns it, and only they have the rights to upload it to different websites and send it to film festivals. I am still allowed to post links to it and show it at parties and stuff though.
